Brandi-Ann Uyemura has been a freelance writer for the past 8-years with experience working for various retail companies, publications and small businesses in the areas of health, psychology, entrepreneurism, and travel. Brandi's educational background in counseling psychology and health and her experience as a writer and stress management educator have helped her to help others through the written word.
Families, Kids, Teens and Seniors
Brandi is a mom of a toddler. She was also a marriage and family therapist intern at a middle school and community college where she counseled students on a variety of mental health issues. As an associate editor for PsychCentral for the past five years, she has written articles on everything from anxiety and stress to healthy living topics. She has also written travel articles for families.
Brandi has a graduate degree in counseling psychology from Santa Clara University. As part of her program, she worked with clients of diverse ages, backgrounds and issues, including relationships. She has also interviewed experts and written several articles on relationships including ways to end a friendship and the spiritual lessons that can be learned from friendships.
Stress Management and Health and Wellness
Brandi was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2013. Since then, she's taken her Master's degree in counseling psychology with a health emphasis and used it to educate others on how to live a more resilient life. She's given stress management workshops to moms and was a guest speaker at a mom's health and wellness event.
Brandi is an expert in small businesses. She has written several informational articles on and for entrepreneurs featuring successful businesses and tips from experts on running a successful business.
Other Interests and Hobbies
Brandi is a SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) member and currently working on books for children and kids. Her dream is to create whimsical characters who remind us about the beauty, magic and extraordinary that can be found in the ordinary. She created her own writer's group to help inspire and motivate her and other writers and blogs about inspiration and passion on The Inspiring Bee and everything writing on her website.
