Top Fad Diets

Top 10 List     how we choose
3 Day Hot Dog Diet
This diet is sometimes called the Cleveland Clinic Diet, but has no association with Cleveland Clinic or any other organization. The diet is extremely low calorie and consists of eating two hot dogs on the second day of the diet. Other foods on the diet are tuna, lean meat, veggies, and ice cream. The diet claims that you can lose up to 10 pounds in three days and instructs that you should stay on the diet for three days only. After that time, you should go back to normal eating for at least four or five days before following the diet again. Foods you don't like can be swapped out for foods with the same calorie count.
Cabbage Soup Diet
If you love cabbage, then this diet might be right for you. It consists of a soup made of cabbage and other veggies that you eat for a certain number of days, depending upon how much weight you'd like to lose. You will eat only cabbage soup during this time. While weight loss is fairly fast, eating only one type of food without variation can be quite unhealthy. The diet is made for quick losses. You may wind up gaining the weight back when you go back to regular eating patterns. Other fad diets listed on this site include the Apple Cider Vinegar Diet and the Peanut Butter Diet.
Chicken Soup Diet
With the Chicken Soup Diet, you will eat breakfast each day and then snack on chicken soup for the rest of the day. The soup is made from a very specific recipe and you must choose from a specific list of breakfast choices as well. Some other diets you'll find on this site include the Russian Air Force Diet and the Lazy Zone Diet, which is modeled after The Zone. The Zone is a fairly healthy eating plan, consisting of 40 percent healthy carbs, 30 percent protein and 30 percent fat. With the Lazy Zone, you simply have an easier pattern to follow for counting your percentages.
Grapefruit Diet
Among fad diets, the Grapefruit Diet has been in existence for many years. It dates back as far as the 1930s. It is sometimes called the Hollywood Diet or the Mayo Diet. It is not connected to the Mayo Clinic in any way. It is a high protein, low calorie diet of between 800 to 1000 calories. There are many variations of the grapefruit diet. You'll also find information on many other diets at WebMD, including reviews on how healthy or unhealthy they might be. You'll even find a vegan diet called the Hallelujah Diet.
Mono Food Diet
If you've ever thought that you love a food so much you could eat only it, then the mono food diet might be the fad diet you want to look at. Although eating only one food for an extended period of time is not a good idea, most of these diets are very short term plans. You'll find details on food combining diets, how it all works, the way your body is likely to respond and even a question and answer area about following a food combining or mono food diet.
Hay Diet
This diet was created by Dr. William Hay, a New York physician. The idea of this diet is that the body digests foods in different ways, so they need to be eaten in a specific order and in certain combinations. Most of the diet is made up of veggies, fruits and some protein. Starches and simple sugars are limited on this diet. The diet is pretty complicated to follow, which can be one of the major drawback of this fad. You'll find many other diet related articles, such as one about diet tea and another about fat flushes.
Lemonade Diet
Also called the Master Cleanse and the Lemon Diet, the Lemonade Diet consists of fasting on a juice concoction for 10 days to cleanse the body of toxins. It is a fast, so you will want to get your doctor's okay before going on this or any diet. If you try the Lemonade Diet and things aren't going well, you might want to read about common mistakes people make on this diet and do some troubleshooting. You'll also find a complete list of supplies you'll need, including organic Grade B maple syrup and probiotics.
Pasta Chocolate Diet
Are you interested in a diet where you can eat chocolate, pasta, and popcorn? This diet allows you have a little of all of those things, in moderation, along with fruits and salads. You'll also need to drink a lot of water on this diet and stay away from fried food and high fat fare. You'll also find other articles on this site that can help you as you try to stick to any diet. Diet tips include not skipping breakfast, chewing gum to keep hunger in check, fill up by eating foods high in fiber, and go ahead and eat what you're craving because you'll wind up eating it anyway.
Peanut Butter Diet
Natural peanut butter and other nut butters can be healthy. This diet was tested by Prevention readers, who saw a lot of success with the diet. Since most people enjoy eating peanut butter, dieters didn't grow tired of the food choices. The plan is about 1500 calories a day, which translates into a pound or two of loss each week for most users. While it may not result in as fast of a loss as some other plans, many doctors believe it is best to lose weight slowly and change your eating habits. The site also offers an area called Belly Bytes, where you can learn about the nutritional and calorie content of different types of food.
Scarsdale Medical Diet
Low Carb Lisa offers the ins and outs of following the diet created by Dr. Herman Tarnower. This is a low fat, fairly low carb diet plan. Unlike some diets, the rules are very specific about what you can and can't eat for and between each meal. The diet is meant to be followed for two weeks and then you switch to Keep Trim Eating for two weeks. This pattern continues until all the weight is lost. The site offers some useful features like a list of beginner's tips and items that can be substituted due to allergies.
