Yale
Yale has an excellent name among universities anyway, but their law school consistently ranks at or near number one each year. The school is in New Haven, Connecticut and dates back to the first part of the 19th Century. The acceptance rate is only 6.7 percent. The faculty is made up of esteemed professors from many different aspects of the legal world. The school also produces some notable publications, such as The Yale Law Journal, Yale Law and Policy Review, Yale Journal of Law and Feminism, Yale Journal of International Law and Yale Journal of Law and Technology.
Harvard
Harvard Law School is renowned for turning out top notch attorneys, which is likely why Hollywood chose Harvard for the movie Legally Blonde, where the main character Elle Woods sets her sights on attending the prestigious school. More than capturing the attention of Hollywood, however, Harvard Law offers students the ability to attend a university with more than 200 years of history. The school offers a wide range of degrees, so students can attain any goal in law that they desire as well as other fields like teaching. Harvard also offers the Study Abroad program, so students can experience the legal system in other countries.
Stanford
There are many interesting facts about this top rated law school. Stanford law has a rich history dating all the back to 1893 and started with just two law professors. The school offers joint degree programs and advanced degree programs. Stanford also offers plenty of ways for students to get involved, including eight student run law journals, 50 different organizations that students can join and opportunities to serve in the community.
Columbia
Located in the great city of New York, Columbia Law School offers a diverse student body and a top notch law program. It boasts the fact that it is one of the first law schools in the country. The school was officially founded in 1858, but Columbia had already taught law students for 60 years before that. While those wanting to practice law will be well served studying at Columbia, there are also many other careers that the website lists as a possibility for Columbia Law School students, such as teaching or serving as a consultant to companies.
University of Chicago
This school is unique in that it blends both the study of law and studies in humanities, natural science and social science. A student who graduates from University of Chicago Law School will have an extremely well rounded legal education. The law school has been in operation since 1902. The school has an amazing library called D'Angelo Law Library. The library has many different special collections such as a rare books collection, alumni collection and a collection of rare, ancient classic books.
New York University
The law school was founded in 1835 and consistently ranks in the top 10 law schools in the country. The law school is on the NYU Greenwich Village campus. The school offers very specific areas of focus, such as the study of these types of law: business, environmental, criminal, constitutional, innovation, international and public interest. NYU Law Schools offers a unique program where students and faculty join with local businessmen, government leaders and legal experts for discussions unlike any other.
UC Berkeley
Located in Boalt Hall on the Berkeley California Campus, UC Berkeley Law School is a top legal establishment in the country. For students who wish to gain joint degrees or study in specific areas, Berkeley offers the ability to study on any of the 13 affiliated schools and colleges in the UC Berkeley system. The law library at Berkeley was started in 1894 and today contains nearly 900,000 volumes to help students research nearly any legal topic they'd like to tackle. University of Pennsylvania
The University of Pennsylvania Law School focuses on cross-disciplinary studies. Located in the historic city of Philadelphia, Penn Law ranks among the top law schools in the nation. The first legal lectures were given by James Wilson, one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence. The school began offering a full-time study of the law in 1850. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, this law school has really made a name for itself. The University of Michigan Law School was founded in 1859, making it one of the oldest law schools in the country. In 1870, it was the second school in the country where an African American earned a law degree. Today, the university's student body is very diverse. University of Virginia
