Cancun
Cancun is one of the most popular Mexican travel destinations and one of the
reasons for that is her near-perfect beaches. There are many luxury hotels
and all inclusive resorts that offer access to the beach or private beaches.
The ocean is warm and gentle and offers a lot of different opportunities for
water sports. You can even swim with the dolphins while you are there. You'll also find the Maya
Reef just off the Cancun beaches, which makes this a popular spot for scuba
diving. |

Cozumel
Around 40 miles south of Cancun lies Cozumel. Cozumel is
a popular stopping point on Caribbean cruise vacations and offers many
different water sports on its beaches. The waters are shallow with a marine
park for snorkeling, swimming, laying on the beach and swimming with the
dolphins as well as two other beaches. Cozumel is a popular destination for scuba divers as well. |

Ixtapa
The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo resort area is located in the Mexican Riviera.
Average temperatures are around 80 degrees Fahrenheit and it rarely rains.
This makes Ixtapa a perfect beach destination in Mexico. An online photo tour shows the area nicely and how many activities there are in
Ixtapa, many centered around water sports. Ixtapa is a modern resort type
town. You'll find jet skis, snorkeling, water parachutes, surfing, boating,
scuba diving and even water tricycles. |

Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women, is a small
island that is five miles long and half a mile wide. The town is a small
fishing village. Since this is an island, there are beaches all around. Some
of the best are Playa Norte and Playa Paraiso. If you prefer a quiet and
secluded beach, then you'll probably appreciate Playa Paraiso more. Garrafon Natural Reef Park offers the opportunity to interact with
dolphins and spend time snorkeling. This is a popular family destination and
also has snack bars and other activities for families. |

Las Bahias de Huatulco
Located in the town of La Cruceita, Las
Bahias de Huatulco is often simply called Huatulco. The area is on the
Pacific Coast and is made up of nine different bays and many tourist
resorts. Those who enjoy surfing will appreciate the surfing and boogie board contests held in Huatulco. The waters are known
to be so clear that the water appears almost aquamarine at times. In the
nine bays of Huatulco, there are actually a total of 36 different beaches to
explore. |

Los Cabos
Located in the furthest southern tip of California's
peninsula known as Baja is Los Cabos, Mexico. There are many beaches available in this area, including nude beaches. Some of the more
beautiful beaches include Medano Beach, Solmar Beach and Lover's Beach. If
you like to splash and play in the Pacific, check out Playa San Pedro or
Playa Migrino. San Jose beaches include El Estero, Playa Hotelera, La
Playita and Playa Costa Azul. |

Playa
del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is located in the Yucatan Peninsula
in Quintana Roo, Mexico in the southwest of the country. The waters are
crystal clear and the beaches offer white sand. In addition to the typical
snorkeling, fishing and swimming, you'll also find kayaking and parasailing.
The weather is warm most of the year and the days are sunny. Although there
are many developments, it doesn't seem quite as commercial as some areas.
There are many restaurants right on the beach as well. |

Puerto Escondido
Puerto Escondido is on Mexico's Pacific
coast. Unlike some of the other top beaches, Puerto Escondido is not a
resort town, but an actual fishing village with beautiful beaches. It is a
well known destination among surfers. The water is clean and blue-green.
Principal Beach offers many activities, including fishing competitions. In
addition to the surfing areas, there are some coves that offer waters that
are calm and perfect for swimming. Playa Zicatela is the main beach for surfing and swimming. |

Puerto Vallarta
Banderas Bay is located in beautiful Mexican Puerto Vallarta and is one
of the top bays in the world. The waters are a beautiful aquamarine. You'll
also find Caletas. Caletas can only be accessed by boat because of the thick jungle that
surrounds it. The beach is unmarred and beautiful in this area and the
vegetation is untouched. The sand is a soft golden tan. |

Tulum
Tulum is a popular beach destination because of it's quiet atmosphere and
low cost hotels. It is located in the Yucatan Peninsula as well on the east
side of Mexico. This town is sometimes called the Mayan Riviera, because it
has ancient ruins right beside the beach. The reefs have brilliant colors
and underwater caves. Many of the beaches are unmarred by tourists and sea
turtles still land here to lay their eggs. |
