A Moment Like This
This song was written for the winner of the first American Idol competition. The writers of the song were Jorgen Elofsson and John Reid and the song was first recorded by American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. It hit the Billboard Top 100 in the number one spot and stayed there for two weeks. In 2006, Leona Lewis did a cover of the song where it hit British charts and was nominated for the 2007 BRIT Awards.
At Last
"At Last" was written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren and was featured in a musical film. It was recorded for the film and also by Nat King Cole, but the most popular performance with most romantics is the one by Etta James, recorded in 1960. The song was written by Matt White and was recorded by Enrique Iglesias for his Escape album. The song first started being played on radio stations the November after the 9/11 attacks. The song was greeted with enthusiasm and Iglesias was asked to perform at several benefits and special events honoring the heroes of 9/11. When the directors of Dirty Dancing heard the song, they loved it and included it in the film. The song hit number three on the Billboard. The song plays in the movie as Johnny (Swayze) packs up his car and leaves the summer retreat where he and "Baby" have had their summer romance. This song appeared in the movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. "Take My Breath Away" was written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock. The best known version was performed by Berlin.
