Top 10 List     how we choose
Apples to Apples
A party game that applies the simple concept of matching a noun to an adjective. It may sound too educational, but the hilarity of the mismatches is what makes the game so much fun. If you've ever played Mad Libs, the basic concept is similar but with a twist. The game is made up of cards. Players are dealt seven cards with nouns. The "judge" for the round then turns up an adjective card, such as scary. The players must choose a noun from their hand that they feel is the best match for the adjective. 4-10 players can participate. Ages 12 and up do best with the game. The game runs around $25.00 and there are several versions available, including kids, junior and Bible.
Digital Arts and Crafts Studio
With 85 activities, this digital art toy plugs right into the PC. One of the great features of this toy is that it has password controls to prevent the child from having access to the desktop of the PC itself. This protects children from the Internet and protects the computer from curious little hands. Intended for ages 4 to 9. Add to the digital studio by purchasing add-on CDs such as the Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego Go and Barbie Fairytopia which allows the child to create with a paper doll fairy and clothing. The Digital Studio runs about $50.00.
Disney Fashion Dolls
Move over Barbie! Disney fashion dolls are trendy, allow kids to role play with their favorite Disney stars and come with tons of accessories. The Hannah Montana doll comes with two outfits. Comes with a microphone, brush and shoes. There is also a Miley doll available, if you prefer the girl next door. High School Musical and High School Musical 2 have hit the tween world like a storm. It only makes sense that the next big thing in fashion dolls would be characters from the hit TV movie. Choose from Troy and Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan or Taylor and Chad.
Fisher Price Smart Cycle
Trying to figure out a fun and easy way to get your child off the couch? The Fisher Price Smart Cycle is a wise choice for under $100. The easy Plug ad Play system hooks right into your television. The child gets to customize his or her experience on the television screen. As the child pedals through the on screen environment, the game will reinforce concepts such as letters, numbers, colors and shapes. Additional "environments" may be purchased. For boys, try Diego's Rainforest Adventure and Hot Wheels. For girls try Barbie, Dora and Sponge Bob Squarepants.
Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Disk Shot
Remember Nerf? The product is still around but geared up for a new generation of kids. The Nerf N-Strike Disk Shot launches darts and disks from a chamber. For around $50, the toy comes with the launcher, a remote control, 6 foam disks and 6 micro darts. You may also want to look into the Nerf N-Strike Disk Expansion Pack with 6 additional disks and 6 additional darts, and an Air-powered dart blaster. For ages 8 to 12. Used with N-Strike Blasters, which are sold separately.
Leapfrog QuickStart My First Computer
This product is a great way to teach kids basic computer skills without investing in an expensive system or risking your main home PC while the child is learning his or her way around a system. Teaches how to use a keyboard and mouse and how to zip through different screens and programs in a fun learning environment. Four games are installed on the computer that teach concepts such as phonics, counting, computer basics and animal trivia. Additional software may be purchased to expand the learning concepts, such as Dora the Explorer which teaches essential preschool skills, including Spanish. Other software titles are Thomas and Friends: Learning Destinations and Animal Art Studio.

For kids who love both pets and electronics, check into the Littlest Pet Shop Plug And Play which hooks into the television, creating a virtual Littlest Pet Shop.
Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition
An age-old favorite board game, Monopoly has been revamped for a new generation. Because the world is moving into a more electronic banking mindset, Monopoly has gone electronic too. Includes game board, Banker unit, deeds, tokens, cards, houses, hotels and dice. For ages 8 to 127. Pair the electronic version with the classic version to help kids learn how to count both paper and electronic money.
