Anita Blake Vampire Hunter
The successful series by author
Lauren K. Hamilton features the character Anita Blake, who

The Darren Shan Saga
Darren Shan is an
Irish author who has written an enthralling series that begins
in the book
Cirque de Freak. When two young boys visit a local circus,
it doesn't take long before they realize they are dealing with real
life vampires. Although the series is aimed at young adults, older
readers will enjoy these action packed books as well. Other books in
the series include The Vampire's Assistant, Tunnels of Blood,
Vampire Mountain and Trials of Death as well as many
others. |

House of Night Series
This series is written by PC Cast and Kristin Cast and is about a
16-year-old character named Zoey Redbird. The series starts with
Marked, where a "vampyre" tracker puts a mark on Zoey. She
then begins to change and transform into a vampire. The first book
is followed by Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed, Hunted, Tempted and
Burned. The strength of the books is in the setting and
characters. Zoey leaves her home to attend a boarding school for new
vampires. |

The Morganville Vampires
This series is written by Rachel Caine. The main character is
Claire Danvers, a college freshman. Glass Houses is the first
in the series. In this book, Claire makes a deadly enemy, whom she
will have to battle. As she struggles to stay alive, Claire meets
some interesting people and learns that the town of Morganville is
actually run by vampires. Other books in this series include
Midnight Alley,
Carpe Corpus, Fade Out and The Dead Girls' Dance. |

Riley Jansen Guardian Series
This series is written by
Keri Arthur. This series is quite unique. While there may be
book series out there about vampires and book series about
werewolves, this book focuses on a character who is half vampire and
half werewolf. You can just imagine the trouble Riley Jansen finds
herself in. Books in the series include Full Moon Rising, Kissing
Sun, Tempting Evil, Dangerous Games, Embraced by Darkness, The
Darkest Kiss, Deadly Desire, Bound to Shadows and Moon Sworn. |

Sookie Stackhouse in the True Blood Series
Created by
Charlene Harris, Sookie Stackhouse is a character that has
actually appeared across two different series by Charlene Harris.
She first graced the Southern Vampire Mysteries and is now featured
in the True Blood series. Sookie has some psychic abilities and this
brings her in contact with people with powers, including vampires,
although they are immune to Sookie. Books in the series include
Dead Until Dark and Sookie also appears on the television
series. |

Twilight Saga
Written by author
Stephenie Meyer, the Twilight Saga follows the romance of Edward
Cullen and Bella Swan and also features a wolf clan. Edward is
different than your traditional vampire. He sparkles, can go out in
the daytime (although sunlight will reveal his sparkle) and refuses
to drink the blood of humans. Books in the series include
Twilight,
New Moon,
Eclipse and
Breaking Dawn. The books are being made into movies as well.
Each year, thousands of fans flock to Forks, Washington, where the
books are set, hoping to get a glimpse of a vampire or a werewolf. |

Vampire Academy
Richelle Read has written this series about two separate races
of vampires. Both races practice magic, but the Moroi are not evil
and the Strigoi are. You can find out more about the series and read

this series is simply titled Vampire Academy. It is followed
by Frostbite, Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound and

The Vampire Chronicles
A list of vampire books just wouldn't be complete without the
series by the amazing
Anne
Rice. The series started all the way back in 1976 with
Interview With the Vampire where we hear the story of Louis and
how he became a vampire and fell under the influence of Lestat.
Books in the Vampire Chronicles also include titles like The
Vampire Lestat, The Queen of the Damned, The Tale of the Body Thief
and The Vampire Armand. |

16-year-old character Raven has wanted to become a vampire since

mysterious Alexander Sterling comes into her life. Vampire Kisses is

Ellen Schreiber. Books in the series include Vampire Kisses
and Vampire Kisses 2: Kissing Coffins. This book was
originally published in Dutch, but then translated into English.
