Gerry Hoke is what used to be called a "Renaissance Man," in that he has developed expertise in certain areas while maintaining a broad range of exposure to other fields of interest, including home improvement, furniture building and music. He began college in 1972 with a double major in Anthropology and Journalism, but left school to pursue his other interests. In 2011, he returned to college and completed his Bachelor's degree in Rhetoric & Writing Studies and Anthropology.

Gerry has spent 35 years in one form or another of construction and remodeling. His expertise with home improvement began with the renovation of factory and brownstone apartment buildings into loft spaces and single-family homes in Chicago during the 1980s while moonlighting as a set builder for theater and commercial photography.

Residential Builder

During the 1990s, Gerry worked in residential construction in Colorado, engaging in both new construction and remodeling. Since 1998, he has lived in Michigan operating his own remodeling business as a licensed residential builder, principally renovating and improving older homes.
