Kristen DiNobile is an experienced and passionate freelance writer, blogger, editor, and proofreader. Kristen believes the best writers are those who read constantly, so she is an avid reader and researcher as well. She has over 12 years of experience in freelance writing, editing, proofreading, and blogging for both print and online sources, on a variety of topics. Prior careers in education, real estate, sales & marketing, and project management have all contributed to her skills as a writer.
Kristen is a licensed real estate agent with over ten years of experience in both the residential and new construction sectors as well as the rental market. As a New Home Consultant for a national builder, she sold over $8 million worth of homes in less than a year and achieved Top Selling Agent of the Year.
She has not only helped home sellers and buyers complete home sale and purchase transactions, but she is a firm believer in educating her clients along the way so that they have all the information they need to make informed decisions. She created numerous supplemental educational materials that she provided to her clients, including checklists and booklets on various topics in real estate and steps in the real estate process. She takes continuing education classes on a regular basis.
Not only has Kristen helped others, she has rented, bought, sold, and renovated many of her own spaces, including apartments, townhouses, and single-family homes. Therefore, she brings real-life personal experience to her writing.
Kristen is a strong believer in home staging and believes it is integral to the real estate field, regardless of market conditions. Kristen has been staging homes for close to 15 years, including her own. As the creator of Style with Comfort, she is able to educate others through her writing for a variety of both print and online sources, based not only on her work with clients and her own personal experience, but also through research and staying updated on developments and changes in the field.
Kristen hopes to one day be able to offer classes and even courses in her areas of expertise. She is also in the process of writing a book on real estate, with a strong focus on home staging, as it has become such a critical element in the real estate market.
Kristen has a natural talent and passion for interior design. She has had a fascination with houses and decorating since she was a child. She loved to tour homes as they were being built and could instantly imagine how they could be decorated. As a designer and color expert, she has been decorating, redecorating, staging, and organizing spaces for 15 years. In 2003 she started her own company, Style with Comfort, in order to share her knowledge, skills, abilities, and passion with others. She wanted to show people that everyone can have that special place they call home, regardless of their style or budget, and regardless of whether they are renters or owners.
Kristen writes articles and blog posts, including posts on her own blog, stylewithcomfort.blogspot.com, on staging, redecorating, decorating, organizing, DIY projects, color, gardening, real estate, moving, packing, and more. Kristen offers a free quarterly newsletter that is packed with helpful tips, ideas, suggestions, and inspirations related to all of the topics mentioned above. Kristen has taken, and continues to take, many courses and certification classes in the above specialty areas.
Pets: Birds and Parrots
While Kristen is a huge animal lover, she is very passionate about birds, especially parrots. Her experience and expertise includes her first-hand experience as a bird owner for 20 years, as well as her intensive research, education, and study in the field of ornithology. Birds are fascinating and intelligent creatures. She has owned, trained, studied, and worked with her own birds - as well as those of other pet bird owners - on education, training, and behavior modification for pet birds. Other the last 20 years, she has owned many types of birds, including budgerigars, African Greys, and Cockatoos.
In addition, Kristen is a Certified Aviculturist. She has taken numerous courses and received extensive education and training, as wells as many certifications, in ornithology from prestigious organizations and schools. Some of her coursework includes classes offered by the American Federation of Aviculture and the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology. As with her other passions, she is an avid reader and researcher. She owns, and has read cover-to-cover (1,248 pages), one of the pre-eminent books on birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology Handbook of Bird Biology, written by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
She is involved in several pet bird groups that promote education and proper care of birds and advocate adoption over breeding or buying from pet stores. They offer advice and share helpful information and resources with each other, as well as funny stories, pictures, anecdotes, and more. Kristen wrote an article, Before the Bird, which educates potential and first-time bird owners on what they need to know before purchasing a bird as a pet. It is a serious consideration (as any pet is). Having a pet bird requires a tremendous amount of patience, time, and education, as many birds have life spans of 50 years or more. The article appeared in the popular national magazine, Birds USA, which was a yearly publication associated with the popular monthly national publication, Bird Talk.

She also subscribes to numerous magazines - mostly 'shelter' magazines.
