Karen Frazier

About Me

Karen Frazier is a freelance writer and journalist with more than 20 years of experience writing for an array of publications. She is the author of three books, Dancing with the Afterlife: A paranormal memoir, Lessons of Many Lives and Avalanche of Spirits: The Ghosts of Wellington. Karen has written articles on many topics, and has specific expertise in food and wine, paranormal phenomena, marketing, alternative health care, parenting, and nutrition and fitness.

Nutrition and Fitness

Karen is a nutrition and fitness expert. She spent ten years as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, bodybuilding coach, nutrition counselor, and bodybuilder maintaining American Council on Exercise (ACE) personal trainer and fitness instructor certifications. She regularly took classes and workshops to further her knowledge. After significant research, Karen discovered that the best way for her to eat was an organic, seasonal, minimally processed diet. She also has substantial experience in natural health, spending several years early in her career serving as a patient education coordinator for a natural health clinic.

Food and Wine

Karen is a wine and cooking enthusiast. She has taken multiple cooking classes and written about wine for many years. She enjoys making home cooked meals for her family and friends, creating recipes, and pairing them with the perfect wine. She reads cookbooks like novels - cover to cover. She also reads cooking textbooks from major cooking institutions like the Culinary Institute of America. Karen and her husband have lovingly collected wine for two decades, spending as many weekend days as they have available in wine shops and the nearby wineries in Washington and Oregon. Paranormal

As a paranormal author, Karen spent three years as the Managing Editor and a journalist for Paranormal Underground Magazine. She is the host and producer of Paranormal Underground Radio, and investigates the paranormal as part of South Sound Paranormal Research. She maintains relationships with some of the field's top experts, sharing information, ideas, and research findings. She also is a frequent lecturer at paranormal conferences and symposia.

Babies, Kids, Teens and Family

Karen is a mom. She's currently raising a teen-aged son and a teen-aged stepson. She also volunteers as a court appointed special advocate and guardian ad litem for abused and neglected kids in dependency. In that capacity, Karen must maintain a minimum of 12 hours per year in ongoing education into topics like family dynamics, kids' mental health, drug abuse, and other topics pertinent to parents and families. She attended Eastern Washington University, where she majored in elementary reading education with minors in math education and music education. Throughout her adulthood, Karen has also taught music lessons to kids, volunteered as a youth choir director, volunteered in the schools, coached youth sports, and provided tutoring in an array of subjects.

Business and Social Networking

Throughout her career, Karen has worked as a managing editor, technical writer, technical editor, script writer, journalist, public relations specialist, instructional designer, art director, and marketing communication specialist. Early in her career, she served as a business and office manager. She has also started two businesses, including a small publishing company and a successful freelancing business where she advises clients on marketing using Web 2.0 strategies. Karen also serves as an Internet security and safety expert for Reputation.com, where she helps clients manage their online reputations and writes articles about Internet privacy and safety.

Other Interests and Hobbies

Karen is passionate about her interests and hobbies. She hosts a weekly radio show on ZTalkRadio, is a frequent volunteer and fund raiser for local charities, and produces promotional videos for non-profit organizations.
