Halloween Pranks

Top 10 List     how we choose
Caramel Onions
Take this simple caramel apple recipe, but instead of using apples, use onions. This prank works best if you decorate the finished coated onions with nuts, icing or chocolate pieces. Make the caramel coated onions look as appetizing as possible and then set them out on a tray and wait for someone to pick one up and bite into it. When they get a big mouthful of onion instead of apple, they will likely tear right up. The recipient of this prank may get a bit angry with you, but it is a fairly harmless prank with no permanent damage done. You can likely make up for it by creating an Apple Upside Down Cake, if they'll trust you enough to eat it.
Fake Finger
Using the fake bloody finger prank is a tried and true classic. This article describes in detail how to fool your family and friends on Halloween or any time of the year. You'll need lots of ketchup on hand. You may also want to read these related articles to get even more ideas for how to pull of this prank smoothly: How to Make Fake Blood for Clothes, How to Make Bloody Halloween Fingers and another really useful article titled How to Make a Fake Head. Combine the fake blood with the fake head and the prank possibilities are endless.
Forking a Yard
A funny and harmless practical joke is to plant forks (pointy side up) in someone's yard. This can turn into yard graffiti, where you spell something out, or it can simply be thousands of forks. This joke will probably go over better if you go over to help pick up all the forks after the joke. You'll also find other pranks, like how to wrap a car in plastic wrap. You'll also learn handy techniques, such as how to go gnoming and also how to keep your own gnomes from being stolen or taken on crazy adventures.

Motion Ghosts
There are some simple pranks you can put together with kids that will surprise trick or treaters, such as this moving ghost project. This is one of those crank ghost projects and will really add some interest to your decor this Halloween. While not exactly a prank, it can scare people if timed just right. You'll also find a nice selection of Halloween projects you can purchase and ideas for other projects to make your house hauntingly scary this Halloween.

Pumpkin Reorientation
One of the most common traditions of Halloween is carving pumpkins into funny or scary jack-o-lanterns and placing them on your doorstep with a candle inside to light the way. Smashing pumpkins is not only mean, it makes a huge mess in your neighborhood. However, you can still have fun with your neighbors' pumpkins, as long as your neighbors have a good sense of humor. Instead of smashing pumpkins, swap pumpkins. Once you've carved your pumpkin, using one of the amazing patterns on this site, take it and swap it with a neighbor. Another idea would be to kidnap a neighbor's pumpkin, take a ton of pictures of the pumpkin on various adventures (such as going to McDonald's with you) and then putting the pumpkin back on the doorstep with a copy of the pictures.
Red Kool-Aid in Shower
Although blood in the shower goes perfectly for Halloween, this prank is good for any time of year, especially April Fool's Day. Be sure that the person you are pulling this prank on doesn't have any big events the next day or two after the prank as the Kool-Aid will stain skin for a bit. You may also want to consider using purple or green Kool-Aid for other holidays. White vinegar will remove much of the stain. You may also want to read articles like How to Decorate a Bathroom for Halloween and How to Make Fake Blood Using Kool-Aid.
Refrigerator Prank
This prank is downright hilarious, but be careful as some people will respond by trying to hit. Also, never pull a prank like this on someone with a heart condition. That said, take everything out of the fridge, including shelves. Wait until the person is getting ready to walk into the kitchen and hide in the empty refrigerator. When they open the door, scream and jump out at them. Another safety step that is vital is to have someone else in on the joke and be sure they know when you are hiding in the fridge, just in case you were to get stuck in there.
Reverse Trick or Treat
Learn a little about the history of trick or treating and some little known facts about Halloween. Then, reverse the trick or treating. Fill up a bag with candy and ring the doorbell on a house that is giving candy to trick or treaters. This works best when it is a neighbor or friend that you know well, so they won't worry the candy is tainted. When they open the door with their basket of candy, yell, "Reverse trick or treat" and fill their basket with the candy in your bag and then run away.
Scarecrow Prank
You've likely seen this prank done before at various houses around your neighborhood, but weren't sure how to pull it off. First, you'll need a very realistic looking scarecrow costume, big hat and straw. Find a comfortable chair where you can sit very still, lower the hat over your face and have straw sticking out of your shirt and pants in spots. This prank works best in low lighting, so swap out your front porch light for a very low watt bulb. Sit perfectly still until someone gets very close to you and then jump out and scare there. You'll also find articles on this site about how to set up your outdoor Halloween decorations.
TP Your Own Lawn
While toilet papering your neighbors' or enemies' houses is uncool, it can be funny to TP your own lawn as a Halloween prank. You might then want to accuse those who can take a joke of TPing your lawn before admitting to doing the crime yourself and hoping they'll think it is funny enough that they'll help you clean up the mess before it rains. Another reason to keep this to your own lawn is that toilet papering is considered criminal mischief in some states.
