Although Alice J. Wisler lives and writes novels in Durham, NC, she was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. Perhaps that is where her love of travel began. She has lived in and/or visited over thirty countries. Alice holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Eastern Mennonite University.

Bereavement Workshop Facilitator

Currently, Alice writes articles on bereavement and teaches workshops on writing through the heartache. In memory of her four-year-old son, Daniel, who died from cancer treatments in 1997, she created Daniel's House Publications, a support for bereaved parents and siblings. Her novel, Rain Song, which deals with death and grief, is available in bookstores and online.

In Addition to Rain Song, Alice is the author of 10 books at last count. Getting Out of Bed in the Morning is about facing grief and loss, while Still Life in Shadows is a work of fiction about an Amish man who must go back to his community and face his family after the death of his brother. Alice is also a cook and has authored several cookbooks, including Down the Cereal Aisle and Slices of Sunlight.
