Julie Kirk is a Phoenix-based freelance medical writer. Her areas of expertise include women’s health, pregnancy, gynecology, infertility, radiology, sonography, endometriosis, ovarian cancer and other various conditions and diseases.

Medical Background

Her medical background includes 25 years as a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) with 17 years specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.

Writing Experience

Julie has been writing in some capacity for over 20 years. She had her own column, wrote freelance articles and movie and restaurant reviews for City View, a Chicago publication. She also wrote health newsletters for OB/GYN offices. She forayed into various fiction genres including screenwriting, novel writing, short stories and her most recent project is a medical thriller that is near completion.

She is the owner of Kirk Medical Writing and completed Dr. Emma Nichols' medical writing courses. While medical and health-related writing is Julie's specialty, she also enjoys writing about non-medical topics as well.

Other Interests and Hobbies

An avid animal lover, Julie is always willing to help out the local dog rescues. Sea turtles are another favorite of hers; she has even traveled to Costa Rica and Cuba for sea turtle nesting season.

Other hobbies she enjoys are traveling, photography, anything artsy/crafty and movies. A good spy thriller is her genre of choice these days.

Family

Julie is an official empty nester. She is the proud mom of two grown sons and excitedly welcomed her first grandbaby early this year.
