Veterinary Background and Expertise

Saleema is proud to serve as an animal health professional with the credential of Registered Veterinary Technician. By way of her lifelong passion for animals, she entered the veterinary profession in 2009. Saleema has since held positions in numerous specialized areas, including diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, feline medicine, small animal nursing, and emergency and critical care.

Personal Pet Experience

Saleema brings both professional knowledge and personal pet experience to her writing at LoveToKnow. She has treated her own companion animals with long-lasting ailments such as feline GI lymphoma, idiopathic epilepsy, osteoarthritis, and renal failure. These experiences have helped her better empower pet owners to best care for their pets.

Written Publications

Eager to share new clinical findings with others in the field, Saleema ventured into the veterinary writing world in 2016. Her case reports and peer-reviewed articles have since been published in distinguished journals such as The NAVTA Journal and Today’s Veterinary Nurse.

Speaking Experience

Saleema has also presented her work to large groups of veterinary professionals at national conferences, including VMX and WVC. She was awarded Best Case Presentation by the Academy of Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians at the ACVIM Forum in 2016.

As an advocate for the well-being and health of others in the veterinary profession, Saleema presented at the inaugural and subsequent Veterinary Teams Living Well Streamed Symposiums. Through a combination of both her veterinary and fitness knowledge, Saleema’s interactive presentation teaches veterinary professionals how they can strengthen their bodies to prevent injury on the job.

Tech Champion Presenter

Serving as a member of the Tech Champion team, Saleema travels around the country to deliver continuing education presentations to groups of enthusiastic veterinary technicians. Topics include canine osteoarthritis, flea and tick prevention, heartworm disease, intestinal parasites, among other focuses.

Other Interests and Careers

Additionally, Saleema holds certifications as a Group Fitness Instructor and Certified Personal Trainer. She enjoys coaching classes and working out at Orangetheory Fitness.
