The American Seniors Association Organization: A Brief History

Started in 2005 by founder Jerry Barton, The National Association for Senior Concerns gave individuals an alternative choice to joining AARP. The organization, commonly known as NASCON, was aimed at conservative seniors with the purpose of representing their political and philosophical views and lobbying for their beliefs.

People Who Supported NASCON

Within its first few months of operation, NASCON was recognized and hailed by:

  • Writer Brian McNicoll of The Heritage Foundation
  • Steve Forbes of Forbes Magazine
  • Newsman Sean Hannity of Fox News
  • TownHall.com publisher Drew Bond
  • Former game show host, Peter Marshall who is the honorary Chairman and spokesperson for the organization

As NASCON began to add services to its initial mission, the name was changed to the American Seniors Association, also called ASA.

Joining the ASA

The membership fee for ASA is $15 per year. A two-year membership runs $25, and a three-year membership is $35.
