Variations of the Bob Marley Cocktail

There are plenty of Bob Marley drink recipes floating around, all for a good reason. There's no one way to build a Bob Marley!

  • Instead of a silver rum in the red layer, use a plain or flavored vodka. Steer clear of anything that will change the layer's color, but cherry, raspberry, and lemon all make good flavor options.
  • Stick with the pineapple flavoring and use a pineapple rum, vodka, or tequila in the middle layer. Alternatively, use coconut vodka or tequila instead of rum.
  • The top layer needs to be a green hue, so try not to use an orange liqueur instead of the blue curaçao. You can use orange juice instead of pineapple juice or equal parts of juices with the blue curaçao.
  • Swap all the rum for tequila or vodka if you prefer those spirits.
  • Serve over crushed ice to create more distinct layers, or add each layer to a blender individually along with a cup of ice to make a frozen version.

Bob Marley Drink Garnishes

Any of the Bob Marley drinks you make won't be complete without a garnish, so give these a try to see which you like best.

  • Pierce three maraschino cherries with a cocktail skewer and balance them on the rim of the glass.
  • Use a citrus garnish, either orange, lemon, or lime. You can opt for a wedge, wheel, or slice.
  • Keep the pineapple garnish and add a pineapple leaf as well.
  • Garnish using the colors of the drink: a cherry, an orange slice, and a mint sprig.
