Just like snowflakes, no two snowmen are exactly alike. So when you make these DIY snowman centerpieces and let them adorn your table, you know that you'll have a fun and fab centerpiece that will be unlike any other.

DIY Wooden Snowmen With Candles

This easy DIY snowman centerpiece comes together quickly using items from your craft store or florist shop. You can buy the wooden snowmen pre-painted, leave them plain, or decorate them as part of the craft.

Things You'll Need

  • Two wooden snowmen, available at craft stores
  • Large plate
  • Foam floral base
  • Real or artificial evergreen pieces, cut short
  • Roses or other red flowers, real or artificial
  • Three red taper candles
  • Pinecones, artificial berries, or other decorations on picks
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Wood skewers
  • Craft knife

What to Do

  1. Place the foam floral base on the large plate. If you'll be using real flowers and greenery, you'll need to add water after you complete the arrangement.
  2. Use the craft knife to cut three holes in the foam where you will place the candles.
  3. Hot glue wood skewers to the back of the wooden snowmen, trimming the skewers to fit if needed. Set these aside to dry.
  4. Carefully begin adding the evergreen pieces to the foam base. Work in a circle so you can make sure everything is even. Simply insert each stem into the floral foam.
  5. When you get to the center of the arrangement, add the snowmen and the candles.
  6. Finish by adding decorations like pinecones and berries. Add greenery as needed to fill things out.

Things You'll Need

  • Bright white tube sock
  • About one cup of aquarium gravel
  • Polyester fiber filling
  • White thread and a needle
  • Small black beads for the eyes, mouth, and buttons
  • Orange puff paint for the nose
  • Felt fabric in two colors for the hat and scarf
  • Cupcake wrapper (Christmas print or your color choice)
  • Low heat glue gun and glue stick
  • Scissors

Assembling the Centerpiece

  1. Cut off the ribbed elastic part of the sock and discard it.
  2. Pour the cup of gravel into the toe of the sock. This creates a heavier base which helps the snowman stand upright.
  3. Stuff the rest of the sock with fiber filling and use the thread and needle to close the sock top with a few stitches.
  4. Tie a piece of thread around the sock to create a section that becomes the head. Tie more thread around the sock to create the middle and lower sections of the body, taking care to place the thread so the middle section is larger than the head but smaller than the bottom.
  5. To create a hat, cut a rectangle of felt that, on the shortest edge, reaches all the way around the top of the head and overlaps slightly. Add a thin line of glue along the longest edge and bring the two long edges together to create a cylinder. Attach the felt cylinder to the head with hot glue and let it dry for a few minutes.
  6. To finish the hat, tie a piece of thread tightly around the cylinder near the top to close off the top of the hat, leaving just enough felt on the other side of the thread to cut into strips that become the hat's tassels. Cut more felt in a contrasting color to create a brim around the hat and attach it with hot glue.
  7. Cut a long piece of felt and tie it around the neck to make a scarf.
  8. Hot glue beads to the head to make the eyes and mouth.
  9. Glue a few beads to the body to create the snowman's buttons.
  10. Use a little orange puff paint to make a carrot-shaped nose, and let it dry thoroughly according to the paint directions.
  11. Once the nose paint is dry, place a dollop of hot glue at the base of the cupcake wrapper, firmly place the snowman on the glue, and hold it in place for a few moments while the glue sets.
  12. Now the snowman centerpiece is ready to place on your table.
