Shari Brady is a freelance writer and journalist with more than 10 years of experience writing for a wide variety of publications. She is the author of two books, Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye and All the World's a Stage (Summer, 2013), both young adult novels. Shari has written articles on many topics and has specific expertise in teen issues, parenting, and business.
Shari is a parent of a teen-aged boy and girl, and has been writing fiction and non-fiction for the teen audience for the past ten years. As a young adult writer, she's keenly aware of the pressure and stress teens face in today's fast-paced, competitive world, and has become an expert in suicide prevention, eating disorders and teen addiction issues. Her book, Wish I Could Have Said Goodbye, is utilized in drug treatment centers and in high schools as a communication tool to help kids talk about, and deal with, addition issues. She also visits high schools and drug treatment centers where she talks to teens about how to deal with life without using destructive coping mechanisms.
Shari enjoys writing and researching all kinds of parenting issues, but is especially passionate about nutrition and topics surrounding our education system and learning disabilities. She believes kids need to learn critical life skills outside of the curriculum to excel. While her kids were in elementary school, Shari volunteered to be a team leader for Destination Imagination, a national program that teaches kids leadership, teamwork and creative problem-solving skills. Her team took second place in the regional competition.
Shari grew up in a family business and was exposed to conversations around the dinner table about business ever since she can remember. She has a degree in business from Loyola University, Chicago and worked in various capacities in the corporate world. Realizing that ignoring her love for the written word was impossible, Shari pursued her dream and became a full-time freelance writer and author. She has a creative writing degree from University of Chicago and besides writing for various publications, she has her own small publishing business, which utilizes all her strengths and fuels both her business and writing passions.
