Superman #1: $9.12 Million
Starting in 1939, Superman also got his own comic book series. Sell My Comic Books reports there are likely fewer than 200 examples of Superman #1, which is highly prized by collectors. Even in less-than-perfect condition, this comic is very valuable. In very good, unrestored condition, one sold for $720,000 in 2022.
However, a 2025 Heritage Auction broke comic book collecting records when a Superman #1 sold for 9.12 million. The 86-year-old first edition was given a 9.0 grade — one of the highest possible — cementing its place in the record books.
Action Comics #1: $6 Million
Action Comics #1 is the issue that introduced Superman to the world in 1938. It originally cost only 10 cents. There may be fewer than 100 of these comic books still in existence, and it's incredibly rare to find one in pristine condition.
Recently, a 1938 copy in great condition came up for auction. It sold for $6 million, including the buyer's premium.
Amazing Fantasy #15: $3.6 Million
This rare comic from the 1960s marks the first appearance of a major superhero: Spider-Man. This was a top-selling comic book when it was released, prompting the continuation of the Spider-Man story. Even though it isn't as rare as some other comics, the demand for it is incredibly high. One sold for $3.6 million in 2021.

Pep Comics #22 introduces another famous comic book character: Archie. This wartime comic book came out in 1941 and is very difficult to find in excellent, unrestored condition.
The Incredible Hulk #1: ~$375,000
