They're so creamy and buttery that you forget there's no dairy. Whether you're looking for a plant-based recipe or want to try something new, give these vegan mashed potatoes a try.

How to Make Vegan Mashed Potatoes

I love using Yukon gold potatoes for this recipe. It gives my mashed potatoes an extra-buttery texture that all my friends love. This recipe serves 4.

  • 1 pound potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
  • 6 tablespoons vegan butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons plain, unsweetened non-dairy milk
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

  1. In a large pot, cover the potatoes with water. Cover and bring to a simmer on medium-high heat. Simmer until the potatoes are soft, about 15 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes thoroughly. Using a potato ricer and working in batches, press the potatoes through the ricer into a bowl.
  3. Stir in the melted vegan butter, stirring until combined. Stir in the milk, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
Need to Know

Using a potato ricer results in super fluffy potatoes. If you don't have one, you can put them in a bowl and use a potato masher before mixing in the butter, salt, and milk.
